Head Coach Nigel McCarthy
Nigel McCarthy (ASCA Level 2) has a B.Sc in Sports Science and an MSc in Strength & Conditioning from the University of St Mary's in London where he trained and studied alongside Mo Farah and other Olympians. On returning back to Malta he introduced strength and conditioning (S&C) to various sports, becoming the island's first full-time S&C coach. He has helped multiple Maltese national swimming athletes to break numerous national records and aids Paralympic athletes such as Thomas Borg and Spanish national 100M record holder Desirèe Vila. He has also worked with other sports such as rugby, athletics, triathlon, hockey, basketball, golf, sailing, and more.
In 2016 Nigel also had his highest achievement yet, the involvement in the qualification and games performance of five international sailors at the Rio Olympics in 2016 and being present for their preparations at the games. Nigel is also the conditioning coach of the now, double, national champions of Egypt and India and aiding Paralympic Athletes such as Thomas Borg and Spanish national 100m record holder Desirèe Vila.
As a lecturer at the University of Malta for the B.Sc in Sports and Physical Activity Nigel has the ability to keep furthering his knowledge on the subject.
